About Nautical Stripes
Sixteen or so horizontal bands run across a white ground, stacked from top to bottom with uneven gaps of bare canvas between them. The sequence moves through soft sand beige, dusty blue, pale sage, coral red, then a wide periwinkle block, a cream wash, a thin dark navy line edged with red, a broad coral band, another sand band and a deep navy stripe near the base. Each band has feathered, watery edges and pools of stronger pigment, with the pale streaks of a dry stroke visible at the bottom.
The character is calm and loosely ordered: a coastal colour scheme held in a simple stacked rhythm, with enough red to keep it warm rather than cool.
Works in a beach house hallway, a bedroom above a bed head, or a dining room wall with white or linen-coloured walls. Pairs with cane furniture, navy cushions, striped bed linen and light timber.
