About New York Teddy Bears
A square photograph taken along the steel span of the Brooklyn Bridge, with the lower Manhattan skyline reduced to soft greys in the distance. Two small teddy bears sit together on a riveted girder in the lower left, their caramel and tan fur left in colour against the monochrome metal. Between them lies a bunch of bright yellow roses tied with a dark ribbon. Rows of round rivets, cross-braced trusses and cable lines run diagonally back towards the towers.
The mood is quiet and affectionate rather than grand: a small, staged moment of two toys keeping each other company above the traffic. The selective colour does the work, pulling the eye straight to the yellow roses and the bears' fur while the city stays flat and grey behind them.
Suits a child's bedroom, nursery or a light-filled living room where a touch of yellow is welcome.
