About New York II
A square photograph taken along the timber pedestrian walkway of the Brooklyn Bridge after rain, with the boards wet and reflecting light. Everything is rendered in black and white except a closed yellow umbrella leaning against a cast-iron park bench and a wrapped bouquet of orange and yellow roses resting on the seat. The bridge's stone arches and fanned suspension cables rise in the centre, softly out of focus, while the Manhattan skyline, including One World Trade Center, sits low on the left under a flat grey sky.
The mood is quiet and cinematic: a single bright spot of yellow left behind on an empty grey bridge. Fine detail sits in the foreground rivets, bench scrollwork and grain of the wet planks, while the distance drops away into mist.
