About Onyx Royal
A square composition filled edge to edge with a marbled pattern of blue and gold. Bands of indigo and cobalt swirl in long diagonal currents from the upper left to the lower right, each ribbon edged with fine white and pale grey lines that ring the darker cores like agate layers. Between them, broad fields of warm ochre gold spread in soft, smoky washes, thinning to cream in places and deepening to caramel in others. Small eye-shaped whorls appear where the blue lines double back on themselves.
The overall character is calm but busy up close: from across a room it reads as a simple blue and gold sweep, while nearer the eye follows the thin white veining through every curl and split. The finish is smooth and flat, with no raised surface.
Works in a bedroom above a bed head, in a bathroom with brass tapware, or as a single square over a hall console. The gold sits well with rattan, brass and warm timber; the indigo suits navy linen, pale grey walls and white joinery. Good in a beach house or a home office.
