About Feather Study A
A single upright feather sits centred on a plain cream ground, taking up roughly half the height of the canvas and leaving wide empty margins on all sides. The shaft runs as a fine dark line from a bare tan quill at the base to a pointed tip. Barbs on the left side are pale yellow-green and heavily flecked with small black dots and short dashes; the right side carries darker olive barring that breaks into fine separated strands near the top.
Low on the right edge a band of rust-orange and tan feathering fans outward, the only warm note in the composition. Fine ink lines define each barb, and a few loose strands lift away from the body of the feather, giving it a slightly frayed, specimen-book look. The character is quiet and precise: a naturalist's study rather than a decorative flourish, carried by empty space and small, careful detail.
Suits bedrooms, hallways and home offices with pale walls, timber furniture and linen bedding. The cream ground keeps it light in a beach house or a small entry.
