Tall palm trunks lean across the frame and their fronds break the sky into patches of turquoise, cream and apricot. Long violet shadows stretch over the sand in the foreground, while warm yellow light picks out the trunks and the ground between them. The brushwork is thick and visible, with loose dabs of colour.
An outrigger canoe rests on the sand at lower right, its hull striped in purple, white and red, with a furled sail beside it. Two figures stand at the left near the water's edge, dressed in red and orange. Beyond them a band of deep blue lagoon meets a green shoreline and a pale purple ridge under a glowing sky.
