About Pear Still Life
A square still life arranged on a pale stone ledge. Two ripe pears sit front and centre, their skins a warm golden yellow with soft green shading near the stems, one leaning into the other. Behind them stands a round terracotta pot with a wide shoulder and short neck, its copper-brown surface catching light from the left. A dark olive bottle with a cork stopper rises at the far left, and a shallow grey-black bowl sits to the right, partly cropped by the edge.
The background is a cream wall broken by three horizontal grey bands, like a painted panel or shutter, which flattens the space behind the objects. Surfaces carry a fine chalky grain, and the stone ledge shows hairline cracks along its front edge. Shadows are soft and low in contrast, with no hard highlights. The character is quiet and considered: a muted, tonal composition where rounded forms and warm fruit are set against cool grey geometry.
Suits a dining room wall above a sideboard, a kitchen nook, or a hallway where the square format sits neatly between doorways. The terracotta and gold tones work with timber tables, linen upholstery, rattan and stoneware ceramics, and the grey bands tie it to concrete, slate or charcoal joinery.
