A long timber pier runs from the right foreground back toward the left, held up by rows of dark piles and cross braces. A railing and a line of lamp posts follow its length, and a few tiny figures stand along the deck. Small buildings sit at the far end, almost lost against the sky.
Heavy blue-grey cloud fills the upper half, lit from underneath by pink and apricot. A thin strip of orange glows low on the horizon between the piles. Soft, blurred waves roll in over the sand, and a few small seabirds stand on the wet shore. Dark boulders fill the bottom right corner. This is a photograph with a cool blue palette warmed by the sunset glow.
