About Private Property
A pale stone villa with a square tower sits at the centre of the canvas, its walls built up in thick cream and grey paint with small dark window openings and a low terracotta roofline on the side wing. Slim cypresses stand on either side, and two umbrella pines with rounded green canopies rise on the right, their trunks thin and bent. A leaning tree with olive foliage frames the top left corner. Grey-blue hills run flat behind the buildings under a warm apricot sky.
The foreground is a broad sweep of ploughed earth laid on with a palette knife in burnt orange, red and yellow ochre, with a pale track cutting up towards the house. It reads as a warm, quiet piece of Mediterranean countryside, all texture and heat rather than fine detail.
Suits a dining room, hallway or living room with warm timber, terracotta tiles or cream walls. The orange field ties in with leather lounges, jute rugs and rattan, while the grey-white villa keeps it from feeling heavy. Works well above a sideboard or long dining table. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
Great painting. Brightens up my living room.
