About Resplendent Trees
Two slender trees stand side by side near the centre, their thin brown trunks rising from a band of red at the base and branching into open, airy crowns of small green leaves. Behind them the surface is divided into soft rectangles of ochre, olive, mustard and cream, with a pale glow of light sitting directly between the two trunks. Darker red-brown bands run down the right edge and along the lower left, framing the composition and holding the warm centre in place.
The paint is worked in thin, scraped layers with faint patterning showing through the gold and green blocks, so the background reads as a weathered wall rather than open sky. Leaves are flicked on in short strokes of two or three greens. The character is calm and decorative, autumn-warm, with the geometry of the colour blocks balancing the fine natural lines of the branches.
Suits a warm neutral lounge room, a dining wall above a timber sideboard, or an entry with terracotta tiles. The ochre and red tones sit well with leather, rattan, linen in oatmeal and dark timber furniture.
