About Serene Shore
A broad field of gold and ochre fills the canvas, broken by a single dark violet band that runs horizontally a little below centre. The band thickens towards the right, where it spreads into a smoky purple-grey mass that drifts down the right edge and pools near the lower corner. Above and below it, the gold is mottled with olive and rust, pressed and scumbled so the surface reads as weathered metal or lichen on stone. Edges are soft; nothing is drawn, only floated in layers.
The effect is a horizon without a landscape - a warm, quiet expanse with one cool bruise of colour holding it together.
Suits warm, low-lit rooms: a living room with tan leather or a walnut sideboard, a hallway with limewashed walls, or above a bedhead in linen. The gold reads well against charcoal, deep green or raw timber, and pairs with brass lamps, ceramics and jute rugs rather than cool chrome.
