About Short Eared Owl
A short-eared owl fills the upper half of the frame, banking mid-flight with its pale round face turned toward the viewer and dark eyes fixed forward. The near wing sweeps down across the composition in long amber and cream feathers marked with dark brown bars, while the far wing lifts above the body in mottled black, white and steel blue. The background is a soft wash of blue-grey, mauve and olive, scattered with small white flecks that read as falling snow, with faint bare branches showing through behind the bird.
The character is quiet and closely observed: warm gold plumage set against a cold, blurred winter sky, with visible canvas weave and soft brush texture in the background keeping the focus on the bird's face and outstretched wing.
Suits a bedroom, hallway or home office where the warm amber tones lift cool grey and blue walls.
