About Sparkle
Two wine bottles stand on a black ledge with a tall stemmed glass of white wine between them. The bottle at left is almost black, its shoulder catching a thin highlight, with a pale cream label carrying loose, illegible script. The bottle at right is olive green with a lighter label bearing a small crest. The glass holds amber-yellow wine to the halfway mark, with a bright flare of light on the bowl and a long reflection running down the stem. Two small dark red grapes sit at the foot of the glass.
The background is a mottled cream and tan wall built up in thick, scraped paint, so the surface reads like aged plaster. Brushwork on the ledge is broad and dark, with soft mirrored shapes beneath each object. A small red signature sits in the lower right corner. The painting is quiet and warm, more about light on glass than about detail.
Suits dining rooms, kitchens with a splashback of stone or tile, wine cellars, bars and cafe walls. The cream and olive palette sits well with timber tables, rattan chairs and brass or bronze lighting. Hang it above a sideboard or wine rack, or pair it with a second still life in a narrow hallway.
