About Spring Blooms
A tall, dark tapered vase stands slightly right of centre on the edge of a shadowed table, holding a wide bouquet that spreads well past the vase on both sides. Large orange poppies with dark centres sit low and front, red rounded blooms push out to the upper left and right, and loose yellow flowers scatter through the arrangement. Teal and blue-green leaves are flicked in with a loaded brush, and small dabs of cream and gold catch the light between petals.
The background is blended in soft blue, green and lime, darker on the left and warmer at the lower right, so the flowers read clearly against it. Paint is thick and directional, with ridges visible on the petals and quick trailing strokes for stems. The mood is warm and informal, a bright bouquet handled with fast, confident brushwork rather than fine detail.
Suits a dining room wall above a sideboard, an entry hall, or a bedroom where the orange and teal can lift plain paint. Works with timber furniture, rattan, cream linen and brass lamps. Pairs well with terracotta pots, green foliage and warm neutral walls; the dark vase anchors it near darker floors. Browse more floral art, the Statton Collection, multi-coloured art.
