About Spring Bouquet
A deep red vase with dark plum shadows sits low in the frame, its glossy body built from broad knife strokes that catch light down one side. Out of it springs a loose bouquet: a violet and blue flower on a long stem at the top, white blooms with yellow centres on the right, a pale blue flower to the left, and small red blossoms scattered through green leaves. Petals are laid on in thick ridges of paint that stand off the canvas surface.
The background is a smeared wash of mauve, grey and soft orange, with a pink and white table plane below. Flecks of white paint are spattered around the flowers like drifting pollen. It reads as a bright, energetic still life where the paint handling matters as much as the flowers themselves.
Suits a dining room wall above a sideboard, an entry hall, or a bedroom where you want one point of colour. The red vase works with timber furniture and warm grey or white walls, and the violet background sits well beside plum or dusty pink cushions and soft linen upholstery.
