About Surf
A square coastal scene split roughly in half. The upper portion is a sky of horizontal streaks, pale cream and soft grey banded with deeper blue near the top corners, the strokes pulled sideways so the clouds read as long drifts. Below the flat horizon line the water turns a clear turquoise green, lightening toward the centre where the light hits. In the lower right, a low shelf of rock runs diagonally across the frame in grey-blue, ochre and warm brown, with white foam breaking along its edge.
The effect is quick and loose rather than detailed, with visible dry-brush texture in the sky and scraped white marks standing in for spray. It reads as a small stretch of rocky shoreline on a bright, breezy day.
Suits a bathroom, beach house hallway or a living room with white or pale timber walls. The turquoise works with rattan, linen and light oak furniture, and with blue-green tiles or glass.
