About Sydney City Sunset
The photograph looks across Sydney Harbour from water level at sunset. The lower third is open harbour, its surface broken into small ripples that carry a long band of gold reflection towards the viewer. Along the horizon sits the CBD, a cluster of dark towers with Sydney Tower's spire at the left, and to the right the white shells of the Opera House catch the last light. The sun sits low on the right, a bright disc within a burst of orange haze.
The upper half of the frame is sky: deep gold near the horizon, fading up through apricot into cooler grey-blue cloud that sweeps across the top left corner in soft streaks. A small ferry crosses in front of the Opera House. The character is quiet and warm rather than dramatic, with the city reduced to silhouette against a very even, glowing sky.
Suits a living room above a low sideboard, a dining room wall, or a bedroom where warm gold tones settle well with timber, linen and brass. It works in coastal and beach house interiors, and pairs with other harbour or coastline images. Good over a navy or tan sofa on a white or pale grey wall.
