About Taxi Crosswalk
Shot looking straight down from a height, the frame is filled with a pedestrian crossing: broad white bars laid in groups across coarse grey asphalt, broken by a seam line and a faint patch of repaired road. A yellow taxi enters from the lower right, travelling fast enough that its roof, bonnet and windows smear into soft horizontal streaks. Pale rectangles of reflected light sit along its flank, and a dark blurred shape reads as a rear window. Two thin overhead wires cut diagonally across the upper half.
The picture works on contrast: rigid white geometry and gritty grey tarmac held still while one saturated yellow shape tears through it. It reads as a single split second of city traffic rather than a posed scene.
Suits a home office, study or hallway where the grey and white geometry can sit against a plain wall. Works in apartments and modern interiors with black steel shelving, concrete or timber floors, and leather or charcoal upholstery. The yellow picks up mustard cushions, brass lamps or a single bright chair. Browse more yellow art, silver and grey art, multi-coloured art, or read Art above the bed: what size and how high.
