A brick-paved path curves through the lower right of the scene, bordered by a low stone wall with terracotta pots of red, yellow and orange flowers set along its top. Red and pink blooms spill from garden beds in the foreground, and a palm frond reaches in from the left. A white columned pavilion with a terracotta roof sits at the right edge, beside a tall dark cypress.
Beyond the wall, the bay is a flat, clear turquoise, with two small white sails drifting near the middle distance. A village of cream and rust-roofed buildings with a slim bell tower sits along the far shore, backed by wooded slopes and soft blue-grey mountains. The sky is bright blue with scattered white cloud. The soft brushwork gives it a painterly, illustrated feel.
