About The Dawn
A portrait composition built from loose horizontal washes reads like a landscape seen at first light. The upper half is a broad apricot and peach sky, thinned to almost nothing at the top edge and pooling into deeper orange where the washes overlap. Across the centre sit flat olive and sage green bands, broken into island-like shapes with pale gaps between them, suggesting a far treeline. Below, warm ochre and mustard strokes run in short horizontal pulls over bare cream paper.
At the lower edge, two rounded blooms of soft pink spread outward with darker rings where the pigment has dried at the edges, and a fine pencil-style signature sits in the bottom right corner. Wide margins of untouched cream surround the image. The character is quiet and unhurried, with the watery bleed and granulation of the original paper clearly visible in the print.
Suits bedrooms, bathrooms and beach-house hallways where the palette stays soft. The peach and olive sit well with linen bedding, rattan, pale oak and off-white walls. Hang above a bedhead or a narrow console, or pair with a second light abstract in a two-print set for a home office or reading corner.
