A square composition split roughly in half. The lower portion is a dense field of red ink that rises in a soft, uneven ridge across the middle, reading like a distant mountain line or treeline. The red deepens to near-black at the base and in scattered pooled patches, while the upper edge breaks into fine spray and speckles that fade into the flat white of the top half. Small dark flecks sit within the wash. At upper left is a square black seal containing a white character; three vertical kanji run down the lower right in black.

The character of the piece is quiet and graphic: one strong colour against empty white, with all the movement held in the ragged, atomised border where red meets paper. It carries the restraint of traditional ink work with the punch of a single saturated hue.

Works in a dining room above a sideboard, a bedroom with white or charcoal linen, or an entry hall where a single square anchors the wall. Suits pale walls, black-framed mirrors, timber and stone.
