About Tribal Ornament
The square image is built from horizontal bands stacked from top to bottom, each carrying a different hand-drawn motif. Rows of pointed diamonds and concentric leaf shapes sit on near-black brown grounds, while paler cream and grey bands hold dotted ovals, small starburst circles and rows of triangles. Fan and crescent shapes fill another band. The palette stays tight: deep brown-black, warm cream, dusty rose-red, soft grey and small black accents, with irregular edges giving the linework a stamped, slightly uneven look.
The character is graphic and rhythmic rather than pictorial. Repetition and the muted earth palette keep it calm, while the rough outlines stop the pattern feeling machine-made.
Works in a bedroom above a low timber bedhead, in a hallway, or in a bathroom where the square shape fits a short wall. Pairs with rattan, linen in oatmeal or clay, terracotta pots and woven baskets.
