A small wooden rowboat sits left of centre on flat, glassy water. Two figures in green shirts sit close together with their backs to us, and a single oar trails off the right side. The warm honey tone of the hull is the only strong colour in the scene, and its reflection stretches below it.
Above the boat, a wide bank of cloud fills the upper third in cream, grey and pale sage, brightening to a hazy white band at the horizon. The water moves from pale aqua near the horizon to deep teal and slate at the bottom edge. Brushwork is soft and blended, and the square format keeps the scene quiet and open.
