About Brisbane City Hall Tower
The photograph looks up at the clock tower of Brisbane City Hall against a completely black night sky. Floodlights wash the sandstone in warm gold and amber, picking out the Corinthian capitals at the belfry, the moulded cornices and the two visible clock faces, one facing the camera and one turned away in shadow. Below, the triangular pediment and the row of columns along the portico are lit from beneath, with small patches of coloured light in the doorways at street level.
The tone is quiet and dramatic: a single illuminated landmark isolated by darkness, with the surrounding towers reduced to faint outlines and one distant star-burst light at the left edge.
Suits a hallway, study or bedroom with darker walls, where the black background reads as depth rather than a gap.
