About White Dress I
A single female figure fills this square composition, seen from behind and slightly to the side, her face turned in profile with her hair swept up into a loose knot. Her bare shoulders, arms and back are drawn in warm tan and apricot tones over a linen-coloured ground, with charcoal shading behind her waist. Broad white sweeps fan out around her like ribbons or wings, curling across the lower edge and behind her shoulders. Faint grey drips and pencil-style lines run down the background.
The background carries the weave and mottled beige of raw linen, with the word PROUD ghosted in pale lettering at the lower left and a signature in white script at the lower right. The effect is a quick, gestural figure study: confident and unfinished at the edges, calm in the centre where the body is clearly modelled.
Suits bedrooms, dressing rooms and hallways where the walls are white, oatmeal or soft grey. The linen tones sit well with timber bedheads, rattan, linen bedding and brushed nickel lamps.
