About Sepia Hemispheres World Map

Two circular hemispheres sit side by side across a cream, age-toned sheet, the left showing the Americas and the right Europe, Africa, Asia and a partly drawn Australian coast. Fine red graticule lines cross each globe, with tiny engraved coastlines, place names and small sailing ships scattered over the oceans. Above the globes a banner carries the Latin title in capitals, framed by a dark teal sky of rolling clouds where winged cherubs float around a central figure. Two robed portraits occupy the upper corners.

Along the lower edge a painted frieze shows reclining allegorical figures in chariots drawn by lions, bulls, sea creatures and birds, with a compass rose set at bottom right. The paper tone shifts from pale cream at the centre to warm brown foxing at the edges, and a thin gold border runs around the whole sheet. The character is scholarly and decorative at once: a working map softened by faded ink, stained paper and theatrical mythological figures.
