About White Ribbons over Indigo
A long horizontal canvas is covered edge to edge with fine indigo and near-black lines, drizzled and looped so densely that they read as a thicket. Beneath them sit washes of teal, pale blue and soft grey, with small flecks of mustard yellow and warm ochre breaking through near the top and lower edges. Across the centre band runs a continuous ribbon of thick white paint, looped into repeating coils and spirals that travel the full width of the painting like handwriting with no words.
The white line sits noticeably higher than the surface beneath it, catching light along its raised ridges, while the darker tangle stays flat and recessive. The character is rhythmic and restless but held in order by that single unbroken loop across the middle.
Suits a wide wall above a low sideboard, a long sofa or a bedhead, where the panoramic shape can stretch out. Works with grey or navy upholstery, pale timber and brushed steel or chrome fittings. Good in an entry hall or a stairwell landing, paired with plain walls rather than patterned wallpaper. Browse more panoramic wall art, abstract oil paintings, silver and grey art.
