About Blossom Birds on Blue Timber
Dark red-brown branches spread across the canvas from the lower centre, carrying dense clusters of small white blossoms with pale yellow centres. The background is painted as weathered vertical timber planks in teal blue, with visible grain lines, seams and patches where the paint has worn back to lighter bare wood. Perched along the branches are small birds: a yellow and orange bird near the top left of centre, a yellow-green bird at right, and several navy blue birds in silhouette at lower left and right.
Brushwork is loose and dabbed for the flowers, flatter and drier over the plank background, so the piece reads as decorative rather than botanical. Its character is quiet and country-fresh, with the bright bird accents giving small points of colour against the cool blue.
Suits hallways, bedrooms and country-style kitchens, and works well above a sideboard, bench seat or bedhead. The teal plank background sits comfortably with white-painted timber, rattan, linen bedding and galvanised or black metal fittings.
