About Crimson Currents
The canvas is a wide panorama filled with long diagonal strokes that sweep from the lower left up to the right, like wind moving across a surface. The background is a soft pale grey that lightens to near white through the centre. Over it run broad ribbons of crimson and scarlet, broken by shorter dashes of orange and warm coral. Thin black liner strokes arc through the middle and along the upper left, with fine flicked specks trailing off their ends.
White paint is dragged across the reds in half-dry sweeps, softening the edges so the colours blur into the grey ground rather than sitting hard against it. The character is energetic but restrained: most of the canvas stays quiet and grey, with the heat concentrated in a single band through the lower centre.
Suits a light-walled living room, above a low grey or charcoal sofa, or along a hallway where the panoramic shape has room to run.
