About Backstage Nerves
A ballerina is seen from behind, seated and turned slightly away, her bare back and shoulder left almost entirely as white canvas with only a thin grey line to describe the spine and shoulder blade. Her dark hair is swept into a high bun with a small red flower pinned at the crown, washed in charcoal and blue-grey that bleeds softly at the edges. Below, the tutu spreads in layered rose and crimson washes, streaked with darker red where the pigment has pooled and run downward.
The background is left mostly bare, with a cool grey-violet column behind her and faint pink drifts and spatter marks to the right. The mood is quiet and unguarded: a still moment before a performance, carried by soft edges and a few sharp red accents.
Suits a bedroom, dressing area or a girl's room where soft pink and grey already appear in bedding or curtains. Works above a dresser or narrow console, with white timber, brass mirrors and pale linen. The unpainted white background keeps it light in a small hallway or home office nook.
