About Bend I
A square composition built from open circles that overlap and run off the edges. A large teal ring sits high in the centre, its band shifting from deep blue at the base to a dry olive at the top. Below it a broad grey-blue arc sweeps across the lower half in fine combed lines, crossing a smaller navy ring at the left and touching a slim olive circle on the right. Behind them, a washed ground of beige, cream and pale grey is broken by faint diagonal blocks and scuffed white patches.
The character is calm and weathered, like markings layered onto an old plaster wall. Colour is restrained, with the blue rings carrying the energy against quiet sandy neutrals.
Works above a bed with linen bedding, over a sideboard in a hallway, or behind a desk in a home office. The teal and olive rings pick up denim, sage and rust cushions, while the sandy ground suits oak, rattan and off-white walls. Square format fits neatly between two windows or above a low console.
