Tall white birch trunks run from the top to the bottom of this square watercolour. The bark is left pale cream and warm grey, with small dark marks and patches of tan where branches have broken away. Thin branches fork off near the top right and in the middle, reaching out at sharp angles.
Behind the trunks, soft washes of teal, deep blue and sage green bleed into each other with no hard edges. Fine spatters of paint dot the background, and faint lilac patches show on the left. The paper texture and pooled colour give the grove a cool, hazy, damp feel.
