About Blue Velvet II
Loose petal-shaped washes float across a soft off-white ground, arranged so that the heaviest forms gather through the lower right and the palest drift toward the top edge. Deep cobalt and ultramarine pool at the centre of several shapes, fading to pale blue where the pigment has run thin. Between them sit turquoise ovals, olive and mustard patches, and grey-lilac marks with darker edges where the wash has settled. Fine granulation and visible water lines show through the flatter areas.
The character is quiet and fluid rather than graphic: the shapes overlap without hard outlines, so colours bleed into one another and the white ground reads as air around them. It has the feel of a flower opened out and simplified to pure colour.
Suits a bedroom above the bedhead, a living room over a low sideboard, or a home office where a calm square works better than a busy print. It sits well with white or pale grey walls, linen upholstery, light timber and rattan, and pairs naturally with coastal or Hamptons-style interiors in blue and cream.
