About Breezy
A woman stands barefoot on pale cream sand, seen from behind, her right arm raised to hold her dark cropped hair in place against the wind. Her red short-sleeved dress is painted in loose strokes, deeper crimson in the folds at the hip and hem, lighter where light catches the back and shoulders. Behind her the sea reads as a flat dark band, with a low olive treeline and one small tree bearing red-tipped foliage at the right. Two white gulls cross the teal sky at left.
The brushwork is soft and unfussy: the sand is blocked in with broad horizontal sweeps and a few violet shadows at her feet, the sky blended in grey-green clouds. The painting's character is quiet and contemplative, with the single red dress carrying all the colour weight against a muted coast.
