About Circular Motion I
A square composition built from rings and open circles scattered across blocks of colour. Three thin brown outline circles sit in a row along the top, resting on a horizontal band of tan and teal. Below, larger solid rings in cream, putty and warm tan overlap a dark chocolate rectangle and a soft blue square, while a thin gold-outlined circle floats at the left of centre. Small white and pale blue washers punctuate the lower half. A wide cream and brown ring is cropped by the right edge.
The colour blocks behind the rings are streaked and scraped, so teal shows through tan and brown shows through cream, giving the surface a worn, layered look. The effect is calm and geometric, with just enough warmth in the ochres to stop the teal feeling cold.
Works above a sideboard in a dining room, in a hallway, or over a bed in a coastal-style bedroom. The teal and brown pairing suits rattan, linen bedding, walnut or oak furniture and off-white walls.
