About Coat of Arms II
A large oval medallion fills the centre of this portrait composition, carved in shallow relief and lit from the upper left so every ridge casts a soft shadow. At its heart sits a quartered shield marked with fleur-de-lis, a tower, crossed keys and a stepped bend. Above the shield rests a visored knight's helmet turned in profile, topped by a crest with a bird and flowing mantling. Curling acanthus leaves spill symmetrically to either side, spreading almost to the edges of the oval frame.
Behind the medallion the surface reads as weathered plaster and cut stone, with faint chiselled marks and mortar lines showing through in sandy beige, taupe and warm brown. Tonally the image stays close to a single sepia range, so the interest comes from light and carved depth rather than colour. The overall character is quiet and architectural: an old European crest photographed on a wall, dignified and worn rather than decorative.
Suits a study, home office or formal hallway where its sepia stone tones sit well against timber panelling, leather chairs and brass lamps. Works in heritage homes and traditional dining rooms, and pairs neatly with antique maps, mirrors with carved frames or a second heraldic print hung as a pair.
