Watercolour, charcoal and coloured pencil prices
Portraits on paper cost about 15% less than oil and come in four sizes. Each extra pet adds $85. They can be framed with a mat board and clear Perspex (wooden frames from $150 more), or ship flat and unframed, ready for a standard frame.

How do you make custom pet portraits?
Unlike sites that use digital filters, at Direct Art Australia one of our professional artists re-creates your photo by hand: a 100% hand-painted oil or watercolour portrait, or a hand-drawn charcoal or coloured pencil portrait. We update you on progress, let you preview the artwork online, and make any changes you'd like free of charge.

What photo should I send?
Any clear, well-lit photo where you can see your pet's face and eyes works best. Not sure if your photo is good enough? Send it anyway — we'll let you know, and we can enhance or combine photos if needed.

What sizes can I choose?
Oil comes in six canvas sizes: 40 x 50 cm, 50 x 60 cm, 60 x 90 cm, 75 x 100 cm, 90 x 120 cm and 100 x 150 cm. Watercolour, charcoal and coloured pencil come in 40 x 50, 50 x 60, 60 x 90 and 75 x 100 cm. 40 x 50 cm is the most popular size for a single pet. See the size guide.
Can you paint more than one pet in the same portrait?
Yes. We can paint up to four pets in one painting, even if they come from separate photos. Each extra pet adds $99 in oil or $85 on paper.
Which painting styles are available for pets?
In oil, two styles: Realism, which stays true to your photo; and Impressionist, with looser, visible brushwork. Or choose a watercolour, charcoal or coloured pencil portrait on paper.
