About Contemporary Botanical Cream II
A square composition of wildflowers rising from the lower edge against a washed cream and pale grey ground. Large open blooms in crimson, coral and orange sit at the centre, each with a small spiralled seed centre drawn in dark ink. Slender stems carry tulip-like buds, spiky seed heads and daisy shapes left as outline only, uncoloured. On the right a tall stalk of golden-orange leaf shapes runs to the top edge, balanced by olive green grass blades below.
The colour is applied as soft, uneven washes that drift beyond the drawn lines, with faint vertical streaking through the background and a dusty, slightly mottled surface. A loose black pen line describes every petal, stem and leaf over the top. The effect is relaxed and sketchbook-like rather than formal botanical illustration, warm in tone and quietly cheerful, with plenty of pale space around the flowers to keep it light.
Suits a bedroom above a bed head, a hallway, or a living room with cream, oatmeal or pale grey walls. The coral and orange picks up terracotta cushions, rattan and warm timber furniture. Works well as a square pair with a second botanical print above a sideboard or in a home office nook.
