About Dutch Vignette
A portrait watercolour scene built in three bands. Across the top, washy blue sky with white gaps and a scatter of fine ink flecks. In the middle sits a brown-bodied windmill with a dark cap and four long sails tipped in orange-red, standing over a flat strip of water and a low green shoreline. Below it runs a cluster of timber buildings with bright red roofs, dark green walls and small square windows, their outlines drawn in quick pen lines over the wet colour.
The foreground is filled with five or six yellow tulips on curving green stems, their petals left pale where the paper shows through and edged with soft orange bleeds. Loose leaf strokes fan out to the right with splatters of yellow and pink across the white base. The painting's character is light and unfussy: wet-into-wet washes, visible paper grain and sketchy ink work that keep the scene quick and cheerful rather than precise.
Suits a bedroom, entry hall or home office where you want colour without weight. It sits well against white or pale grey walls, near timber furniture, cane baskets and linen. Good in a beach house or a country kitchen, and it pairs easily with other botanical or coastal watercolours in a small group.
