About Eastern Design
A deep red field darkens to charcoal at the upper left and lower corners, lit as though a glow sits behind the centre. At left, a silver-white shape like a broad leaf or fan sits on a thin stem, its surface cracked and scraped with two small red square stamps pressed into it. Below the stem, a small red rectangle frames a rounded orange blob. A tall gold column of carved seal-script squares rises from the bottom edge, and a second rough gold band runs down the right side.
Across the top, loose red brush-drawn characters float over the red ground beside a small circular seal. The paint is worked in thick relief: trowelled ridges, sanded gold, torn pale paper-like patches. It reads as a wall of old stone rubbings, warm and weathered rather than graphic.
Suits a dining room, entry hall or lounge with warm timber, black steel or dark leather. The red carries a neutral grey or off-white wall and works above a sideboard or long sofa.
