About Fairy Cake
A slender fairy stands at the centre of a soft wash background that fades from pale sky blue at the top into layers of rose and candy pink below. She wears a short black and white tutu with a scalloped hem, long pink and white striped stockings and a pair of tiny black heels, one foot pointed like a dancer. Translucent insect wings, edged in fine grey lines, spread from her back. On her upturned palm she balances a small tiered cake decorated with pink and blue icing.
A pink and red butterfly hovers just above the cake, with a single cupcake floating between them, and two curling antennae rise from the fairy's head. The paint surface is loose and brushy in the background, with visible streaks and cloudy blending, while the figure is drawn in crisp, clean lines. The character is playful and light, sweet without being saccharine, and carries a quiet sense of balance and poise.
Made for a girl's bedroom, nursery or playroom, especially above a white bedhead, dresser or reading nook.
