About Fishing Village
A cluster of timber houses on stilts fills the right side of the image, their corrugated roofs painted in rust red, warm ochre and pale grey-white. Behind them a bank of dark olive foliage rises, while a hazy grey city skyline of blocky towers fades into a cream sky on the left. Small fishing boats sit moored along the far bank, and thin bamboo poles lean out of the shallows in the foreground, casting long broken reflections across green and apricot water.
The mood is quiet and humid, a working waterfront seen through morning haze. Broad flat shapes and streaky horizontal marks give the water a loose, sketched feel against the sharper geometry of the roofs.
Suits a coastal or beach house living room, a dining room with timber furniture, or a bedroom with linen bedding. The olive and rust palette works against white, putty or pale grey walls, and pairs well with rattan chairs, jute rugs, brass lamps and other harbour or boat imagery.
