About Fountain
The view is framed by a deep stone archway whose ochre and umber masonry wraps the top and right edges of the canvas. Through it sits a round fountain: a carved urn on a squared pedestal, water arcing from three spouts into a shallow turquoise basin ringed with pale tiles and a rough stone kerb. Beyond, sun-bleached courtyard walls carry small blue-shuttered windows, and a curved flight of white steps climbs to the right. Orange blossom spills over the arch, with a spiky green plant at the base of the wall.
Paint is laid on thickly through the stonework and the fountain rim, so the walls read as gritty and weathered, while the water is handled in thin blue-white strokes with flecks of spray. The character is quiet and still, a shaded corner on a bright day where the only movement is falling water.
Suits a hallway, dining room or living area with warm neutral walls, terracotta tiles or timber floors. It sits well above a sideboard or console in rustic, French provincial and Tuscan-style rooms, and pairs with wrought iron, aged timber, linen upholstery and potted olive or citrus plants. My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
