About Gilded Crevice II
A square abstract divided into four uneven fields by a cross of pale gold, white and black. The upper left is a warm sand wash that deepens to tobacco brown along its lower edge. Top right holds a soft sage green panel with faint clouding and a darker seam down its left side. Below, a cool grey field streaked with white sits beside a patch of dusty pink and rust that bleeds into charcoal. Edges are soft and watery rather than ruled.
The vertical and horizontal seams meet just below centre, where fine gold lines fan out like a root or a split in stone. Ink pooling, granulation and dry-edged bleeds are all visible in the print surface. The character is quiet and mineral, muted colour held together by one bright metallic-looking line that draws the eye straight to the middle of the square.
Square format suits a bedroom above a low bedhead, a bathroom wall, or a hallway where a single balanced piece works better than a row. The sand, sage and grey sit easily with oak, linen bedding, rattan and off-white walls, and it pairs well with a second muted abstract in a beach house or apartment living room.
