About Golden Field
A broad field of golden wheat fills the middle of the canvas, crossed by a pale cart track that curves from the lower right toward the horizon. On the left, a slender pine with a flat, umbrella-shaped crown is built from thick green and cream knife strokes, with a few red touches caught in the foliage. The foreground is a band of grass loaded with red poppies, painted as short, blunt dabs. Two white flowering shrubs sit near the track. At the right, a small farmhouse with a terracotta roof stands beside dark cypress spires.
Blue hills fade behind the fields and the sky lifts from deep blue to a pale lilac band at the horizon. It reads as a warm, sunlit country scene with plenty of surface texture and clean, unfussy shapes.
Suits a dining room, kitchen wall or hallway where the yellow can carry warmth into the room. Works with timber tables, rattan, linen and terracotta pots, and sits well in Hamptons or country-style interiors. The red poppies pick up nicely against white or soft green walls.
