A crowd of yellow tulips fills this landscape watercolour, their cupped heads tipped in orange and coral. One open bloom sits near the centre, showing a pale yellow bowl and a ruffled lower petal. Another at lower right opens to a dark centre with red-orange streaks.
The colour is washed on wet and left to bleed, so petals melt into soft greens, blues and lilac-grey in the shadows between the stems. Thin pink-red stems and broad leaves run vertically, and fine drips trail down the paper. White paper shows at the corners, with a few small dark flecks scattered across the foliage.
