About Igniting Love I
Two open tulips fill this portrait composition on a pale off-white ground that has been worked with dry, scraped marks. The upper flower sits high and centre, its petals flaring outward in wide sweeps of ochre and warm gold, broken by washes of grey and areas left bare so the canvas reads through. A second bloom enters at the lower left corner, cropped by the edge. Slim grey-green stems run down the centre, carrying two pointed leaves in deep charcoal.
The handling is loose and fluid, with brushed edges left open and colour allowed to pool and streak rather than fill a clear outline. Despite the strong ochre, the overall effect is quiet: lots of white space, a limited palette and softly blurred boundaries give the work a calm, airy character suited to restrained interiors.
Suits bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways and home offices with white or chalky neutral walls. The ochre and charcoal sit well with oak, rattan, linen bedding and brushed nickel fittings. Hang it above a bedhead or console, or pair it with a second golden floral print to form a balanced two-panel set on a wider wall.
