About Intimacy Two
A single female figure kneels at the centre of the canvas, drawn almost entirely with long continuous curves rather than solid form. The head is a simple oval tilted to the left, with no facial features, overlapping a second curved line that reads as the shoulder and neck. Arms sweep down and cross in front of the thighs, and the folded legs fan out to either side in broad looping shapes. Soft shading in slate blue and charcoal sits inside the outlines, giving the body a smooth, rounded, almost sculptural weight.
The background is a graded wash: pale grey-white behind the figure, deepening to dusky blue-grey at the corners and edges, so the body appears lit from within. Surface texture is fine and even, with no visible impasto. The character of the painting is quiet and restrained, more a study of line and balance than of a person.
Suits a bedroom, ensuite or dressing room where the muted grey-blue palette can stay calm, and works equally well in a hallway or above a low sideboard. Pairs with pale timber, linen bedding, brushed nickel and soft lighting. Its narrow colour range sits comfortably beside black-and-white photography or other line drawings.
