A jacaranda tree fills the whole frame, its dark brown limbs twisting and forking across the picture from the lower left to the upper right. Clusters of violet-purple flowers hang along every branch, thickening into dense masses at the top and down the right side.
This is a photograph with a bright, high-key feel. Pale white sky shows through gaps in the canopy and in the top right corner, which makes the purple look vivid. Small patches of fresh green leaf sit among the blooms, and the rough bark on the trunks adds a warm, earthy contrast to the cool flowers.
