About Japan Cherry Blossom
A square composition of blossom-laden branches set against a sky that shifts from pale grey-blue at the top to a stronger cornflower blue along the lower edge. Thin charcoal-grey stems cross the frame in loose arcs, carrying rounded clusters of pink and white flowers with fine, feathery petal edges and small dots of blue and violet at their centres. Olive and yellow-green leaves, some tipped in rust, fan out along the branches. Fine white line work traces the outer petals.
The mood is light and airy rather than botanical-precise, with the flowers reading as soft pom-poms of colour and the blue ground left open and unfussy. A calm, spring-like print with a Japanese feel.
Suits bedrooms, bathrooms and hallways where you want soft colour, and works well above a bed, a bath or a console table. The blue ground sits happily with white walls, pale timber, cane and linen bedding, while the pink clusters pick up blush cushions, ceramics and fresh flowers.
